Definition of mansonary

  • Construction material formed by combining stone and brick , with a blinding materials : mortar
  • Mainly used to builds walls
  • Serve to enclose or divide a space
  • To support loads from other elements 
  • Based on location :
-Exterior ( at least one side exposed to the exterior environment )
-Interior ( both sides exposed to an interior environment )
  • Based on structural requirements :
-Load bearing ( structural wall ; carry loads from others members )
-Non- load bearing ( carry own weight only )
  • Based on construction :
-Solid wall ( monsonry units )
-Hollow wall ( masonry units )
-Framed wall ( use wood or metal )
